Pizza Update!

Hello all,

We've been a little busy here at O.A.E.O.P. so we just wanted to give you a little bit of info about what's been going on and future plans.
First off there are two more nights of O.A.E.O.P. before we close down shop (Boos and Hisses are welcome). We don't want to quit but the road has called our name. This Sunday November, 20th and the next the 27th are your last chances to get a slice of O.A.E.O.P. As always there will be delicious pizzas and beverages to enjoy, along with a few surprises I'm sure.

This weekend is also the opening of another business in this house. Check out Ship and Shape a new online boutique featuring everything your heart could desire. They are having an opening at Honeycomb salon on Sunday Nov. 20th so stop by and treat yourself.

Some other happenings are in the works also. We are doing an interview with Red76 about running a renegade business and why you would spend all your free time making more work for your self, jk we love doing this. Also if you haven't seen it yet here is an awesome short film by our friend Zoey.
<iframe src="http://player.vimeo.com/video/31545108?title=0&amp;byline=0&amp;portrait=0" width="400" height="293" frameborder="0" webkitAllowFullScreen allowFullScreen></iframe><p><a href="http://vimeo.com/31545108">Untitled</a> from <a href="http://vimeo.com/user4574763">Zoey Melf</a> on <a href="http://vimeo.com">Vimeo</a>.</p>

And lastly this blog will probably become fairly stagnant after O.A.E.O.P. closes down but I plan on continuing with another blog called Living in the Twenty-First Century. It will be just what it's called a blog about living now. There is not much there now but I'll be traveling all winter and hopefully that will generate plenty of interesting things to share.

PEACE & LOVE,
O.A.E.O.P.

Produce Prep.

Last week we enjoyed a visit from the folks at Youth Farm. They came out on Monday to see the oven and then returned Wednesday for a Pizza Party! We had a great time sharing the oven with these enthusiastic young urban farmers.

Pizza Peace

I think that programs like Youth Farm and similar programs that are happening across the country are integral to changing the structure of our food system. Like many of our infrastructure systems food production and consumption are in great need of attention. By bringing farming into the city and addressing how we interact with our environment through food these programs are teaching a new generation that there is a different way we can produce and consume. My hat is off to all who are out there making this possible and sharing it with others.

Pizza Party!

We had a great time at our Grand Opening/ Going-Away Party last Thursday! Our dear friends Annie & Eric have left the Twin Cities for the Big Apple. We know there gonna have a great time and can't wait to go visit them and eat a pizza at Roberta's!

This Sunday will be our first regular day of business. We will be open from 4 - 10pm. We will be available for Dine In, Take Out and Delivery. I'll post the Menu later today when I get done with the shopping!

O.A.E.O.P.

O.A.E.O.P. is the Oakland Avenue Earth Oven Pizza a temporary underground pizza bistro. The center of the operation is an earth oven built in the backyard of a South Minneapolis home. Like a brick oven when properly fired this simple dome of clay can reach very hot temperatures (like 700 - 800˚). At this temperature a pizza can be cooked in about one and one half minutes.
The next ingredient in this radical recipe is local and organic ingredients. The weekly menu is determined by what is seasonally available from local farms. This makes for interesting and inventive combinations on top of a delicious crust. Menus will usually be available the day before in the afternoon when I've finished my shopping.
I'd like to give a special thanks to Turnip Rock Farm who provided the tomatoes for our sauce. Earlier in the summer we bought boxes of tomatoes and jarred them for delicious pizza all winter.
The dough is made by hand the night before and rises slow overnight.

HOURS: SAT 8 - LATE / SUN 2 - 10pm

We will be open for biz on Sundays. You can call or stop-in and place an order from 4pm till 10pm.
The last order goes in at 10pm. When you place an order we will let you know how long the wait is. We only cook 1 pizza at a time.
